Forgiveness

Forgiveness

During challenging times for humanity, the question of forgiveness becomes complicated and with different connotations for different people. We often argue that those who have done us wrong do not deserve to be forgiven, that they simply cannot be forgiven, thinking about forgiveness as something we have to give to others rather than something we do for ourselves

Food for thought, this is how Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati talks to us about forgiveness;

Forgiveness does not mean that we condone what was done or said, it does not make the wrongdoing less wrong. It does not mean you have to be friends or like or indeed have any kind of emotion towards those you forgive. It simply means you are setting yourself free, you stop identifying as their victim.

Holding onto hatred is to reinforce an attachment to those who have done you wrong; you are creating a bond between you and them. To forgive means to break that bond and set yourself free from the bondage of that attachment.

♥ And so, forgiveness is for you, not for them ♥
